Many times when making calls to far away locations, there are different rules or “givens.” If you‘re having a rough time getting your call to Syria to go through, it may be because of one of these all too common dialing mistakes:

International cell phones can be blocked

Many cell companies make sure their new phones are manufactured with factory default settings in place. Generally that setting allows for automatically blocked international calls. Before you call Syria, double check your phone to see if it has been preset in such a manner, and change it if need be.

Cell phone and area codes

International dialing on cell phones will not require an area code in most cases since cells have a pre-assigned beginning digit.

Trunk code(s)

For international numbers that start with a zero or “trunk” code, you can skip dialing the familiar 011 exit code.
